Anyone who wants to predict the social and psychological developments that will be here in the coming years is invited to delve deeper into the three main movements in the digital space:
Movement on the Axis between technology and human connection
Digital technology improves our ability to connect, but impairs our ability to be tied to others
Movement on the axis between availability and attention level
Mobile Phone off — disrupts availability. Mobile phone on — disrupts attention
Movement on the axis between loneliness and tribalism
Individuals search for a group to belong to and find it in digital tribes full of emotion And political outrage.
Loneliness does not contradict tribalism but increases it. The tribal digital “we” gives the lonely digital “we” a sense of belonging.
Tribalism is a solution to loneliness, but it is a toxic solution. Rage connects grief and is a deceptive solution because when it dissipates, loneliness increases.
Healthy tribalism is what is formed around love or common interest. Not around shared rage
